The Athena CF Enabler
Yes, the CF slot on the Sony Clié can hold a CompactFlash Storage card, but its use was severely limited... until now.
The Athena CF Enabler enables your Sony Clié to use the CompactFlash slot for standard CompactFlash memory.
With the Athena CF Enabler product, you can use your Clié and a CompactFlash card to:

Runs on an enormously wide range of CF storage cards
The Athena CF Enabler can be used with virtually any CF storage card. This means you can get the benefits of inexpensive, widely available CompactFlash storage units, either "Type I" or "Type II", both now and later as new, larger capacities are offered. In the fast-moving CF storage card market, we haven't been able to test every product, but so far all the CF storage cards we've seen work with the Athena CF Enabler (the only exception being harddisk-based products like IBM's Microdrive. See our FAQ for more details.)

Versatile User-selectable Switches
The Athena CF Enabler's Console program lets you Automount cards (making the functioning of the CF cards as transparent as Memory Sticks). The Console also allows you (through the Replace MS function) to make the CompactFlash slot behave as though it were the MS (Memory Stick) slot on the Clié, thereby allowing access to selected built-in Clié applications such as Audio Player and Movie Player.

NX73V
and NX80V. The product can run,
unchanged, on the widely-popular 60,
70, and 90 models, and on the
later 73/80 models.
Version
2.0.0 of the Athena CF Enabler
coexists peacefully with the built-in
Sony drivers, handling CF storage
cards when they are used―and
letting the Sony driver take over when
non-storage devices are inserted in
the CF slot.
Use both the CF card and the Memory Stick
simultaneously
The Second MS
mode allows you to use some applications
without the need to enter Replace
MS mode. Thus, the Memory
Stick and the CF card both remain usable,
effectively doubling your storage
slots.
Mode switching easier than ever
Users don't need to
manually mount and unmount cards to
switch into and out of
Replace MS
and Second MS modes. Where
appropriate, the product will
automatically unmount and remount the
CF card for you.
Movie Player support
You can now run the
Clié Movie Player
without the need for a Memory Stick
(MS). In Second MS mode,
Movie Player will recognize the CF as
an MS and will not require that you
have an MS inserted to operate. Also
while in Movie Player, you can remove
the main card and it will refresh the
display to show the movies on the
remaining card. Reinserting the
original card causes Movie Player to
show the files on that card again.

With a streamlined user
interface and a new, simplified
Registration system, Version
2.0.0 of the CF Enabler
is easier to install and run than ever
before. Greater error-checking
and improved logic translates to a
more reliable, robust product.
Wide Application

The minimum requirements to use the
Athena CF
Enabler are:

A PC or other computer capable of
HotSync with the Clié,

means of installing the driver onto
the Clié
